Sharpe Insights Lagniappe: Some Significant Happenings in March

And now, for something fun. March has a lot to celebrate. Did you know these March facts?

  1. The Yellowstone National Park Protection Act, was signed on March 1, 1872, making it the first national park in the U.S.
  2. National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day is celebrated on March 1.
  3. Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat was first published in March 1957. Coincidentally (or perhaps not so coincidentally), Seuss’s (Theodor Seuss Geissel) birthday is March 2. Many educational institutions celebrate March 2 as Read Across America Day.
  4. Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. Another coincidence: March 14 is National Pi Day!
  5. The game Monopoly’s official birthday is March 19, according to Parker Brothers.
  6. March 21 is World Poetry Day.
  7. The Eiffel Tower opened in March 1889.
