New IRS Data Shows Record of Noncash Charitable Gifts

According to the September 1, 2017 IRS Statistics of Income (SOI) Bulletin, an analysis of recent individual tax returns revealed a record number of noncash charitable gifts, particularly gifts of securities.

Along with continued reports of record highs in the Dow this year and the growth of the number of millionaires, this data suggests that this Fall may be one of the best times to encourage gifts of securities and other large gifts. As the final three months of the year are the busiest for most fundraising departments, encouraging gifts of appreciated securities is a good strategy to include in your overall year-end giving communications as well.

Sharpe Group offers many tools to help you with this, including a 16-page booklet—Giving Securities—that you can use in mailings, at special events or on donor visits. Click here to download a preview of Giving Securities or place an order. You can also order by contacting us at 901.680.5300 or info@SHARPEnet.com.

In addition to Giving Securities, you might also consider having the brochure Questions & Answers About Giving Securities on hand.

Sharpe can also personalize publications with your contact information and logo on the front and/or back cover. If you prefer something more distinctive to your brand, we can do that too. Contact us for more information on customization options.
