The last five years have been full of uncertainty for nonprofits, to say the least. The pandemic caused most activities to grind to a halt, particularly affecting in-person fundraising events and the arts. Some organizations shut down permanently.
Just as things were settling into a new normal, 2025 brought new challenges for many organizations with federal funding cuts against a backdrop of political divisiveness.
Periodically, Sharpe Group has checked in with our friends in the fundraising world and presented the Sharpe Index, a report on how organizations are faring. More than 100 fundraisers, representing organizations of all sizes and missions, participated in the 2025 report, which is now available.
Highlights of the report include:
- More than half of respondents indicated they are still working remotely or a hybrid of remotely and in the physical office.
- Most survey participants (69%) reported an increase in giving since 2021 with the greatest increase (67%) in major gifts ($10,000 and up).
- Nearly three-fourths of respondents felt positive about the future, expecting increased giving to their mission. ■
