Onassis Lead Trust “Unfunded”
The widely discussed and publicized Jacqueline Onassis lead trust is in the news again. According to published reports in late December, the Onassis heirs, exercising a little-known option accorded them in Mrs. Onassis’ will, have reportedly decided not to fund the lead trust. In a story distributed by The New York Times News Service, it was reported that the heirs determined it made more financial sense to pay the taxes that are due and invest the balance.
