Sharpe, William & Mary Partner for Continuing Education Credits

Over the years, thousands of nonprofit professionals have turned to The Sharpe Group for premier gift planning training opportunities. The Sharpe Gift Planning Institute currently offers three comprehensive seminars designed to meet the needs of various members of the development team, ranging from those just beginning their careers to seasoned fund-raising managers.

The Sharpe Group is pleased to announce that continuing education units (CEUs) from the College of William & Mary are now available to seminar participants.

A tradition of partnership

The Sharpe Group has enjoyed a long relationship with the College of William & Mary. In October 1993, The Sharpe Group donated the National Planned Giving Institute (NPGI), the Sharpe training division at that time, to the College. Revenues from the NPGI helped fund the Sharpe Chair of Civic Renewal and Sharpe Scholars program at the College. See www.wm.edu/sharpe.

After the NPGI was given to the College, Robert Sharpe, Sr., founder of The Sharpe Group, continued as the Institute’s director until his death in 2000. Mr. Sharpe, Sr. also served on William & Mary’s Endowment Association board.

Excellence in training continues

Today, The Sharpe Group is pleased to bring NPGI back under its umbrella as the Sharpe Gift Planning Institute. The Institute continues a tradition of excellence and is guiding the next generation of nonprofit development executives in the tradition established by the NPGI over 40 years ago.

With upcoming seminars for 2008 in Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Seattle, Orlando, and New Orleans, Sharpe Gift Planning Institute participants can expect a timely and helpful curriculum presented by a number of seasoned experts in the field of charitable gift planning.

Continuing education units provided through the College of William & Mary can in many cases be applied to credits needed for continued membership in professional organizations.* Students will also receive a certificate, suitable for framing, from the College of William & Mary to signify their attendance and completion of the course.

*CEUs vary depending on the seminar; check with a Sharpe representative for specific information on the seminar you are considering.
